On The Other Side

She ran in circles
She stopped right quick
She couldn’t remember
Why the fog was so thick

As she turned away
Toward the light of day
She felt so lonely and such dismay

Once again, she turned away
But as she turned
She felt the mist
Entangling her in its enticing tryst

The thick of the fog
Thunder rumbling within
Why did it persist?

So she ran in circles
Again and again
Into the darkness
Toward the light of day

But then stopped quick
To try and sway
The heaviness of the darkened day

So she ran in circles
Again and again
But as she turned away
She couldn’t escape
The reality of today

For here she stood
With tears of rain
Crying as it eased the pain

The circles she ran
The fog she chased
The tears that willingly graced her face

Emotions swirling
Beguiling at times
These were the signs
Her mountain to climb

Those circles she ran
She ran no more
Instead, she ran uphill

Toward the light
The darkness too
No longer wondering
How to get through

For at the top
Or at the bottom
Somehow she always knew

Come rain or shine
Or mountains divide
She’d come out on the other side
